violence!!!! :O

What causes Violence??

Domestic violence may start when one partner feels the need to control and dominate the other. Abusers may feel this need to control their partner because of low self-esteem, extreme jealousy, difficulties in regulating anger and other strong emotions, or when they feel inferior to the other partner in education and socioeconomic background. Some men with very traditional beliefs may think they have the right to control women, and that women aren’t equal to men.

what is intelligence?

1. The term IQ is an abbreviation for Intelligence Quotient. Ones IQ is based on a test in which the score is compared to members of the same age in the population. The score is out of 100 but there is a standard deviation of 15 points which compares your intelligence to the rest of the population, so one can score above or below a hundred, but a score below 50 is not common and above 150. However Albert Einstein’s score was 160.
2. The concept IQ was first created in France by a French psychologist named Alfred Binet in 1904. The first accepted IQ tests appeared in the early 20th century by Simon and Binet. The tests were created to measure military personal for World War 1.
3. The test is based on 100, but the score is compared with the rest of the population, generally the average score is between 90 and 109, which means approximately half the population scores within this percentile range.
4. Mensa International is a high IQ society that has existed since 1946. The members consist of people with IQs above the 98 percentile.
5. Two different commonly used IQ tests that exist today are Stanford-Binet IQ test and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale (for both children and adults).

¨Marijuana is a gateway drug for two debates¨

¨Marijuana is a gateway drug for two debates¨ is about the addictive potential of Marijuana. Since the seventies pot has become increasingly more strong and because it is the most used drug in the world there are more dangers involved as it has become more potent such as more people have become dependent on the drug in recent years. In 2007 more people were admitted to treatment centers than the use of other hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin, or meth. The people seeking treatment for pot use has increased more than even alcohol in the past decade, one of the most popular addictions. However, the article argues that fifty seven percent of the people seeking treatment were ordered by the law, and that the data found on the percentage of people who were seeking treatment were opposed to legalizing marijuana. Others say that the drug has a high potential to cure people of other drug addictions, and is effective for other medical and emotional problems. Experts say that, in fact the drug in not addictive and has less effects that any other substance abused. Also, among dependent users who want to quit the withdrawals have the least intense effects than any drug. This article concludes that although pot is not addictive, it´s users will not live the same lives as non-users, and their potential is more limited.

¨Why Pot Smokers Are Paranoid¨

¨Why Pot Smokers Are Paranoid¨ was an article written about an experiment given to rats to test the effects that marijuana has on paranoia, a common side effect amongst the drug users. Paranoia is a developed irrational fear that may not be felt without the use of drugs. The experiment entailed to groups of rats that were trained to fear the scent of peppermint or almond. The scents were accompanied by a design that was placed in the cage with either black polka dots or white striped walls. What the research determined after examining the CB1 receptor activity within the brains of the rats was that these receptors are in fact activated by certain ingredients found in marijuana. Scientists blocked the CB1 receptors in some of the rats and gave a shock to them associated with the smell. The rats did not learn to fear the smell nor pattern even after being shocked. However the rats given marijuana intensely feared the shock and later the smell associated with the shock, whereas the control group of rats that were not given drugs nor were their receptors blocked reacted with a normal level of fear to the shock and smell. In conclusion Marijuana does cause an effect of paranoia because of the activity in the basolateral amygdale which helps the brain to learn paranoia.

Marijuana essay

I think that Marijuana should not be legalized. Although it is illegal, there is still a large population of users, and the legalization of it would lead to more people using than the drug than there already are now. There are more detriments to legalizing Marijuana than benefits. If Marijuana were legal, not only would the population of users increase, but it would also lead to more corruption, delinquency and poor health within our country. Honduras has enough problems as it is, but legalizing Marijuana would cause more, like drug abuse and health problems due to the use of the drug. Also it would be difficult to regulate the use of Marijuana, and thus we would have to create more laws in order to regulate the buying, selling and using of it. In Honduras marijuana is not even a popular drug, legalizing will just conduce not consumers to it. For countries like the Unites States legalization may be a solution because of the huge problem this drug causes, but in Honduras marijuana is not even a problem, and it will be better if it stays like that. Also if marijuana were legal many teens would try it for curiosity, and would feel its ok because of its legal condition. As far as I am concerned there are no benefits to legalizing Marijuana and there would be no legitimate point to legalize it. It would only lead to more problems not only within Honduras but internationally also. People will use Marijuana whether it is legal or not, so it is better if it is illegal and people who want to use it can continue using it, and the general population won't be as effected as if were legal. Marijuana should not be legal due to the fact that it would cause far more problems than benefits.
